On bitching about this country
Published on November 5, 2004
Like I said, I don’t have much to add to the anti-bush fire storm in the blogosphere as of late, so this will be my last bit on the subject, I promise.
I still feel somewhat hopeless for our country. I look back on the election, and part of me says I should have done more. I should have written more letters. I should have volunteered every weekend. I should have given more money.
Then the other half of me realizes, what difference would it have made? Bush won by 3.5 million votes. 3.5 million. He kicked our ass. I couldn’t have changed that. Me and a thousand of my closest friends couldn’t sway that many votes.
I like the way kottke frames this, but it will take some time for me to come around. Today, I’m ashamed of you America. Tomorrow, I’ll probably still be ashamed, but I’ll try not to write about it here.
That’s it. I’m done now.
