Weekend Recap

I sit here Sunday morning, watching exciting Olympic marathon action, reflecting on what I’ve done recently. OK, I’m not really reflecting upon it, I’m just trying to remember it for y’all. So here’s what’s new recently, in exciting paragraph form, a departure from my usual list.
I’m currently at home, (my parent’s home). Myself and fellow Queensburyites Rob, Pat, Mike, and Eric (along with foreigners Shayna and Lisa) were all in town for some drinking, foosball, and betting on horses. Friday evening saw adventures at the Parting Glass and Desperate Annie’s as well as my first game of foosball in close to a year. Foos is still decidedly quite exciting.
Saturday was track day. After a very rainy start, the sky cleared up and allowed me to lose a little bit of dough on decidedly fantastic bets. Normally days with a sloppy track mean lots of upsets and big payoffs, but today was different. With the exception of the Alabama Stakes, just about every race went to the favorite horse – no fun to bet on – the nine dollar exacta I hit may be the record for the smallest exacta payout ever. As many know, my favorite ass-jockey, Jerry Bailey, in typical fashion, did his best to screw me over by losing when I bet for him, and winning when I bet against him. Overall, it was still a great time and reminded me how fun screaming at horses can be.
The evening had Christie’s on the Lake in store for us. Not much to report – a good time except for the cold weather and the $15.00 pitchers of Yeungling. Nothing like downtown Boston prices in upstate New York.
And that brings us to today, Sunday. I’ll be heading back to Boston shortly to interview another potential roommate for next year, with hopes of not having to look for too much longer. I should have kept a log of who we’ve interviewed and what they were like, as everyone is starting to look the same. Remind me to do that next time.
And as they say, that’s all I have for you.
