mac update

Published on March 21, 2004

Warning, extremely dorky entry.

It’s been about two months since I bought the mac, and I have to say, on the whole, I’m impressed. Adapting has been slow going, mostly from lack of motivation. I still haven’t gotten around to install PhotoShop or attempted any heavy duty web updating, and am still futsing around looking for controls, but on the whole, I think I’m better off in the end.

I rarely turn on the PC anymore, when I do it’s usually to pull some old data onto my new machine. I’ve weened myself off of Outlook/Entourage and think I am finally happy with Apple’s mail app. I’ve discovered the joy of NetNewsWire and of tabbed browsing. Huge kudos to built in bluetooth and seemless interopability with my bluetooth based cell phone (The SonyEricson T610), built in wireless, and long battery life.

I still could be more efficient, but the BSD subsystem command line is helping me get there by figuring out the inner workings of OS X. The one thing I am still sure of is when it comes to mice, two buttons are better than one. I wonder if apple will ever admit this.

Apologies and congrats to those of you who have made it through this, my nerdiest, most poorly written entry in quite some time.

Love,

jason
